Scorching Loss
March 29, 2025:
The Cats took to the road to take on UC in a hot and windy match up. Despite the 1 goal loss and injury to player “Boots” the team rallied as always, brushed off and fixed their sites on the next game. (home!)
With the new season, comes new faces. The Cats maintain their electric energy this season with vets and rookies.
Thank you to UC for hosting and to the fans that came out to support!

Home Game Focus
April 8, 2025:
On this chilly Tuesday night training at Tuttle Park, Columbus, The Cats remain focused on the game for the weekend ahead. Coach Fab expressed his frustrations to the team by not utilizing voice enough and reiterating how important it is to do so.
From that point forward, voices were used. Especially noticeable on the back end of training during the handball game. The players look sharp and ready for this weekends home game clash against Cincinnati and Cleveland in the first of 3 Metro League games.

Captains Selection
April 10, 2025:
Selection night generally comes later in the season for the Cats but this year we got stuck in early to pick our Captain and Vice Captain for the season. Already this year we have had such incredible turn outs of new faces, returning faces and a with a new coach, it just felt right.
After an intense fitness based training session was over everyone headed down to Byrnes for food, drinks and most importantly to hear who everyone voted for to lead the team this year.

The Cats hosted the first round of the Metro League against Cincinnati Dockers, and University of Cincinnati with a few members of the Cleveland Cannons.
After what looked like was going to be a tight matchup at half time in the first of two grueling games, The Cats clawed their way home to secure a win against the Cincinnati Dockers. Final Score 6 goals, 8 behinds, 44 total points for Columbus and 4 goals, 4 points, 28 total points for Cincinnati.
University of Cincinnati brought their A game, still fired up after their win against the Cincinnati Dockers in the game after ours. The match was aggressive, and it was physical, ending in a 37 all draw. 6 goals, 1 behind, 37 for Columbus and 5 goals, 7 behinds, 37 for Cincinnati Bearcats.

Easy on a Tuesday night
April 15, 2025:
It was a quieter night down at Tuttle Park tonights training session, as the squad was still feeling the effects of a massive weekend. After playing two hard fought games against the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Dockers, numbers were understandably light.
For those who made it out, it was a solid session focused on skill refinement. We worked on our kicking game with small 15 meter kicks and a higher and further drill, challenging ourselves to use both our preferred foot and opposite foot - an essential skill for building versatility and confidence under pressure. Handball drills followed to sharpen up our movement and decision making, and we even dabbled in a bit of touch rugby to get more comfortable playing from behind and keeping the ball alive - something we’ve identified as an area to grow.
The night wrapped up with a visit to our brand new sponsor, The Varsity Club, where we enjoyed some well earned food and drinks. It also gave us a great chance to have some great team chats about the big one on the horizon: The Mid Atlantic Cup in Virginia.

Locked in: Training Recap
April 17, 2025:
Thursday night’s training session had a more relaxed feel as the Columbus Cats got together for a focused evening of footy fundamentals and fun.
The session kicked off with partnered kick-to-kick drills, giving players a chance to sharpen their timing and connection while easing into the flow. From there, the group moved into handball drills, where Coach put extra emphasis on attacking the mark and being loud and clear with communication — small details that make a big difference on game day.
A few light scrimmages rounded out the evening, keeping the pace up while letting players test their positioning and teamwork in a casual setting.
Throughout the night, players were pulled aside one by one for photos, adding a bit of media flair to the session.
It was the kind of night that builds team chemistry, sharpens the basics, and reminds us all why we love this game.
